York County commissioners moved the sale of Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center closer to the finish line by approving agreements on July 25 for transferring the home’s assets and operations.

Commissioners also established the Pleasant Acres Condominium Association. This will allow Premier Health Care Management to own and operate the home until the property is subdivided. Pleasant Acres and the Annex building are part of a 135-acre parcel that includes the York County Prison, Youth Development Center, Archives and the Emergency Services building.

Upon completion of sale – anticipated by Oct. 1 – the county will help Premier navigate Springettsbury Township’s subdivision process to separate their two parcels from the larger property.

The July 25 agreements included a lease between the county and Premier for the county to continue using the Annex building. The county Coroner, Ag Land Preservation Board, Conservation District, Weights & Measures, Center for Traffic Safety, Penn State Extension, Archives and District Judge Barry Bloss use the building and will continue to do so until the county finds a new location for those offices.

The county has an option to lease the Annex space at a cost of $10,500 per month through December 2020. There is an option to renew the lease for a third year at an annual base rent of $750,000.

These agreements are the next step in the process the commissioners started in May to sell the nursing home. The agreements allow Premier to file documents with the state Department of Health to begin the transfer process and for Premier to make sure what the county says it’s selling is what Premier believes they are getting.

Pleasant Acres management is continuing under the county until closing on Oct. 1.
