For people still recovering from the calamitous flooding that hit portions of York County in August, be on the lookout for FEMA Corps.

The service group is in York County and will be stopping by homes that were impacted by the flooding. Perhaps these homes still need a water heater or a furnace.

FEMA Corps is a branch of AmeriCorps, a network of national service programs that help communities recover from disasters.

They were called to York County this week with the help of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. PEMA  is focusing on creative ways to help residents who, because of circumstances beyond their control, could not get funding assistance through disaster declarations in the initial aftermath of the Aug. 31 storm.

Some people were assisted by the U.S. Small Business Administration's loans — they helped York County and neighboring county residents get more than $203,000 in loans. But not everyone was able to cash in on financial assistance. FEMA Corps is offering another chance for people to get the proper help.

FEMA Corps will be working out of the Servants, Inc. facility in Red Lion. They can be reached there at 717-378-0336.
