The York County Agricultural Land Preservation Board announces the next application round for landowners interested in preserving their farm through a conservation easement sale.

Applications are only accepted every other year, so mark your calendar with the next deadline of February 15, 2022. Applications and information packets are available now by calling (717) 840-7400 to discuss the program. Appointments are strongly encouraged to ensure a qualifying application is submitted.

Staff are available by appointment to review program eligibility requirements and assist with application completion and mapping. A signed map of the lands to be preserved is required. Enrollment in your Ag Security Area and a current conservation plan are two key eligibility requirements. Make an appointment today to review the requirements and start the application process.

Following the 2020 application round, a total 50 farms were qualified for preservation, with 31 farms selected for appraisal and preservation. The average easement value was $3,000 per acre.
