If your divorce involves property, finances or custody you should consult with an attorney.

 

HOW DO I GET A COPY OF MY DIVORCE DECREE?

You may mail your request to Prothonotary at 45 N. George St. York PA 17401. Include with your request the names of the parties, phone number of the person requesting the decree, approximate year of the divorce, the case number if you have it, money order for the $15 fee and a self-addressed stamped envelope. If it is a special decree you will need to include an acceptable form of ID. 

 

HOW DO I FILE FOR A NAME CHANGE?

1) To resume your maiden name after a divorce you can fill out the form HERE

2) To change your name to a new name (not divorce related): 
       For Adults       For Minors

 

HOW DO I GET COPIES OF DOCUMENTS FILED IN THE PROTHONOTARY’S OFFICE?

For items filed May 2008 or later, you can print copies from our Civil Case Search module on our website HERE

To request copies by mail: send your request and money order for the fee ($1/page)

To request copies in person: copies are $0.50/page in our office
