**UPDATE 12/9/2021** The prison-wide lockdown has been modified. In-person visits and non-essential travel will resume on Friday, December 10th for residents in "clean" (COVID-recovered or areas with no positive rest results) housing areas. We are working with our telephone provider to update their website in order to schedule in-person visits. If you are unsure if your loved-one is in a "clean" unit and can have a visit, you may call the prison and speak to a staff member in the Records Department. Due to high call volume, there may be a wait time. In most cases, your loved-one can tell you via message or phone call if they are eligible for a visit.

Update: Please be advised that regular visits  will resume on Monday, August 9, 2021.  The following guidelines apply:

1. Visitors must be pre-approved and on an active visiting list provided by the inmate.

2. Visitors must log onto  https://yorkcountypa.gtlvisitme.com/ to schedule a visit.

3. Visits may be scheduled 7 days in advance, but no later than 24 hours before the proposed visit.

4.  Only one housing unit is permitted to utilize the visitation area at any given time. Each housing unit has a corresponding visitation schedule, and the available scheduling blocks will be posted.

5. All visitors are required to wear a mask while inside the facility. We are excited to reunite friends, family, and loved ones, but we must go about this in a safe manner. Those who refuse to wear a mask will be asked to leave and the visit will be terminated.

We urge attorneys to call ahead to check the status of their clients, as we will not allow residents who are COVID-positive or  “presumptive positive”  to attend visits outside of their quarantined housing units.

Official visitors, including but not limited to attorneys, clergy, probation/parole officers and service providers with proper identification or authorization may see inmates daily between the hours of 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Official Visitors inquiring about ICE detainees must get authorization from ICE officials or have a G-28 form on file.  ICE public number is 717-840-7253

Attorney preferred method of identification is a state bar card verifying their bar membership.  However, if they do not have such a card the attorney shall be required to present another document verifying their bar membership.

legal representative (not an attorney) shall be required to provide documentation such as a G-28 and/or authorization on company letterhead allowing the individual to act on behalf of the attorney.

Attorneys wanting an interpreter, private investigator, legal representatives/legal assistants, or a medical professional to accompany them during their visit or wanting them to visit with their client(s) on their behalf must request permission from the York County Prison Intelligence Office for these individuals to enter the secure area of the prison. The ofice may be contacted at the following email address: YCPIntelligenceOffice@old.yorkcountypa.gov

All requests for immigration status detainees will require approval through Immigration officials so this may take longer to obtain a security clearance.

Once a security clearance is generated, the requesting party will receive a confirmation email.

Official Visitors Rules for Entering into the Prison

No weapons, food, chewing gum, drinks, cell phones, computers, PDA’s, recorders or any other electronic components in watches, pendants or any other form are allowed to be brought in the prison.  Professional visitors must strictly adhere to the same rules that apply to other visitors.

It is extremely important that professional visitors understand that no one, without exception, is allowed to hand anything directly to an inmate.  An officer, shift supervisor or a member of the administration must examine every item before the item is given to the inmate.  There are no exceptions to this policy.  This includes legal documents, medical documents, books, magazines, pamphlets, and photographs.

Professional visitors are prohibited from having a contact visit with any relatives (by blood or marriage) or persons with whom they have or have had a personal relationship.  The exercise of visitation is a privilege that may be revoked if any of the rules of visitation are violated.  It is important to understand that security is of utmost importance and that the delivery advertently or inadvertently of any contraband item is strictly prohibited and this rule is not changed by the confidential nature of the relationship of the inmate and his/her visitor.

Everyone entering the prison is subject to search, per Purdon's Title 61, Section 384. Any visitor who refuses a search when requested will be denied visitation.

Video Visitation

The goal of video visitation is to provide inmates, their families, friends, legal advisors and others another option to communicate. Video visitation allows individuals to communicate with an inmate remotely instead of traveling to the prison.

Costs

  • Personal visits are $15 for 0-30 minutes
  • Professional visits are $25.20 for 0-30 minutes or $50.40 for 31-60 minutes.
